Southampton Garden

SouthamptonThis was the first traumatic brain injury garden we designed.  And it was this garden and the extraordinary positive effect it had on our client that made me realise how important the creation of these gardens was. The house had already been bought and adapted.  The garden however was a 'tip'.  Literally.

Our client had some very clear ideas about what they wanted.  They were very certain about colour – in particular roses, and were adamant about some aspects of the garden. There had to be a lawn both front and back and there was a very definite 'feel' that they liked. This was clarified by the presenting pictures of different gardens/flower beds and observing what they liked and disliked. From this we drew up the design. Doing the design and build ourselves means that we can make decisions on 'the hoof', so the client can be as involved as they wished.  In this instance the placement of the garden shed needed to be finalised, and our client made the decision themself. What was so gratifying in this instance was that once the decision was made it could be seen to be being implemented immediately which is very empowering. The very fact that the client could see the progress being made and was instrumental in making it happen produced an extraordinary metamorphosis. They literally became happier, more outgoing, and more coherent. It almost mirrored the transformation of the garden from a garden rubbish dump to a colourful, clean and useable space.
